Police Beat: Court appearance leads to arrest
Advertiser Staff
A 52-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested yesterday when he showed up at Family Court for a hearing on a temporary restraining order sought by his estranged wife. The wife, 41, filed a police complaint earlier this month alleging she had been arguing at home Feb. 6 with her husband about divorcing when the husband kept her from leaving several times and put her into a headlock causing pain to her neck and shoulder area.
The woman said her husband pulled out a knife at one point and told her both of them would die together.
Police said the woman was too scared to report the incident until Feb. 10 by which time the husband could not be located.
But when the husband showed up yesterday in court for a hearing on the wife's request for a restraining order, police were called and arrested him for suspicion of kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a family member.
