Oscar contest: So, you think you know films?

Movie-buff alert: Grab today's TGIF and find the ballot for an Oscar contest that lets you guess which movies or stars will win in the Academy Awards' top categories. The

contest is co-sponsored by The Honolulu Advertiser, Signature Theatres and radio station Island 98.5.

You'll need to drop off your ballot today at Dole Cannery Stadium 18, Pearl Highlands Stadium 12, Windward Stadium 10 or Keauhou Stadium 7 Signature theaters for a chance at prizes, including a year's worth of movie tickets and a visit to Heaven on Earth Salon & Day Spa.



Happening: Art, turntablism rendezvous at academy

Dig that crazy German contemporary art with the kicky retro twist! Let it slide into your mind between aural showers of tech house, progressive and techno beats!

The Honolulu Academy of Arts' ARTafterDARK monthlies for young-adult art lovers returns tonight with "NeoNite-Encounters at the Edge." A mash-up of German contemporary artwork and turntablism, NeoNite promises spinning by Love Parade collective founder DJ Dr. Motte (Berlin) and guided tours of the academy's ongoing Neo Rauch exhibition. Nosh on German food and beer, too.

It's happening from 6 to 9 p.m. Entry is free for academy members; $7 for nonmembers. For more information, call 532-6091.
