Advertiser Staff

DREW WALLACE

Punahou School senior diver Drew Wallace will be going for his third consecutive state-meet title when the two-day HHSAA/Local Motion Swimming and Diving Championships begin today.

Wallace set meet records in successive state meets in the 1-meter diving competition.

He is among five competitors entered in this year's meet to have earned All-America status last season.

The others are Michael Ono, Wallace's diving teammate; Moanalua's Andrew Lester in the 500 freestyle, King Kekaulike's Hogan Orikasa in the 100 backstroke and St. Andrew's diver Aleia Monden.

Monden also will be attempting to win a third state title in 1-meter diving. Last season, she set a meet record.

Kapolei's Meredith Egloria will be aiming for a third title in the 50 freestyle.

Other returning state champions are Kamehameha's Gerald Bolson in the 100 freestyle, Lahainaluna's Laura Pope in the 200 freestyle and King Kekaulike's Emalia Suehiro in the 200 individual medley.

Iolani's boys will be going for its fourth consecutive title while the Raiders girls will try to defend their title.
