Man walking on freeway badly injured

A man was critically injured last night when a car hit him as he walked on H-1 Freeway near the Houghtailing Street off-ramp.

Details were not available late last night, but police believe that the man may have been attempting to cross the westbound lanes of the freeway.

The man, possibly in his 20s, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition after the 9:15 accident.

Police closed all but one of the westbound lanes of the freeway from the Palama on-ramp to the Houghtailing off-ramp while they conducted their investigation. Traffic was backed up for miles.
