ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Separate work, home
Advertiser Staff
Don't let your job get the best of you. In "365 Simple Reminders: Ways to Keep Life Simple," author Elaine St. James recommends:
• Avoid scheduling appointments that will disrupt your morning routine. • Break the habit of bringing work home from the office. • Let your callers know your business hours, and stick to them. • When you go on vacation, don't leave a number where your office can reach you.
Drop off your spent rechargeable batteries and old cell phones at marked collection boxes. The items will be used to make new batteries and stainless-steel products.
Rechargeable batteries that can be recycled in the program include those found in cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, and camcorders. For more information, call 692-5410 or see www.call2recycle.org.
"Use your rubbish container instead of a bucket for your mopping and you will be cleaning the rubbish container at the same time as your floor," the Kane'ohe resident e-mailed.
If you have a tidbit to share from organization tricks to recycling tips write to Zenaida Serrano at zserrano@honoluluadvertiser.com, and include your name and phone number.
Recycle those rechargeables
Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corp., a nonprofit organization, has introduced the Charge Up To Recycle! Program at Home Depot and Radio Shack stores islandwide.
