$35,000 to help with schooling
The McInerny Foundation, the G.N. Wilcox Trust and the Frear Eleemosynary Trust have given Adult Friends for Youth $35,000 to conduct its third Clinical/
Competency-Based Alternative Education Program.
The program helps young people who have not been successful in traditional high schools obtain diplomas.
The HMSA Foundation has granted Mental Health Kokua $6,000 to develop psychosocial rehabilitation services in Kona on the Big Island, and Wailuku, Maui, for adults recovering from mental illness.
The grant will enable Mental Health Kokua to offer programs relating to self-care, social competency and independent living.
The Verizon Foundation has given The Hawaii Library Foundation a $9,950 grant for the Computer-Assisted Learning Center at the Hilo Public Library.
The Cooke Foundation Ltd. has given $10,000 to the Hawai'i chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The money will support the chapter's resource development program.
