• SCOTT HIGASHI, a veteran administrative and operations manager in the transportation and hospitality industries, has joined Prudential Locations as executive vice president of sales. Most recently, he was chief operating officer for commercial real-estate firm Colliers Monroe Friedlander.
• WESLEY HIGUCHI has been named vice president and regional sales manager for Finance Factors' Maui Mortgage Center, overseeing residential loan production. Over his almost 15-year career with Finance Factors, he has served in a number of positions, most recently vice president, senior business development manager. Also promoted were LYNETTE BORDEN, named operations manager of the Maui Mortgage Center, and MICHELL NAKAMA, named loan closing manager.
• TONY GUERRERO has been named Salesperson of the Year by the Sales and Marketing Executives of Honolulu. Guerrero, who heads First Hawaiian Bank's retail banking group, was one of three bank executives promoted to form the top management group under incoming chief executive officer Don Horner following the retirement of Walter Dods. The award recognizes a person who has enhanced the image of Hawai'i and the quality of life in the community. Guerrero's efforts to promote the state have included serving as president of Friends of Hawaii Charities and chairman of the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau.
• Longtime hotel sales and marketing veteran PETER C. THOENE has been named to the newly created position of director of sales and marketing serving two properties managed by Marriott International: the 521-room Wailea Marriott Resort on Maui and the 545-room Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort on the Big Island. Thoene will be responsible for implementing a business plan at both resorts as well as overseeing sales, marketing, advertising and public relations, among other duties. Previously, he was director of sales and marketing at the Wailea Marriott and Waikoloa Beach Marriott.
• Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. (HECO) has announced the promotion of AMY EJERCITO to vice president, corporate excellence, overseeing four departments — Compensation and Benefits; Industrial Relations, Safety, Security and Facilities; and Workforce Staffing and Development. Ejercito joined HECO in 1988 as associate general counsel in the legal department and progressed to director of strategic initiatives and manager of customer service. Before joining HECO, she was a tax attorney with Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright.
• MW Group Ltd. has named independent broker JEFF GERARD general manager of MW Group's Maui properties — Kihei Kalama Village, Kihei Plaza, Azeka Shopping Center and Anchor Square.ÊFormerly leasing manager for the properties, he is now responsible for overseeing the properties' management and leasing.
