ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Organize those photos

Advertiser Staff

During the holidays, people take tons of photos, many only to be left in the envelopes because we don't know what else to do with them, said Kathy Davenport, a scrapbook consultant from Kapolei. Her tips to get your photos into albums:

• Start by organizing today's photos and work backward. Your memory is fresher and you'll feel an immediate sense of accomplishment.

• Sort photos by whichever method is easiest for you: chronologically, by event or by family/individual.

Disposing of holiday trees

• Place trees at the curb for pickup on your regular twice-monthly yard-waste collection day, or drop off trees at city rubbish centers or composting sites.

• Be sure to remove all ornaments and tinsel; flocked trees are not accepted.

• For curbside pickup, cut the tree into 3-foot lengths. No cutting is necessary for drop-offs.

• For drop-off sites or a schedule of your neighborhood's collection days, call the city's recycling office at 692-5410 or see www.opala.org.
