Tonight's Must-See
Sugar Bowl, 3 p.m., ABC. At this time tomorrow, Oklahoma and Southern California will collide in the Orange Bowl, with the national championship at stake. First, we see the team that just missed. Auburn was undefeated but finished third in the rankings. Today, it faces Virginia Tech. "Medium" debut, 9 p.m., NBC. The real-life Allison DuBois says visions have been bouncing through her head since childhood. She sees dead people and fragments of real-life events. A lawyer by training, she's now a consultant for police and prosecutors. Now that has been turned into a series with mixed results. The good news: Patricia Arquette stars, bringing intelligence and fragility. Glenn Gordon Caron ("Moonlighting") is in charge, adding a stylish feel. DuBois' family is given depth with Jake Weber as her understanding husband and Sofia Vassilieva (star of two "Eloise" films) as their older daughter. The bad news: Caron can't resist overdoing things. His scenes with a Texas ranger make the story seem cartoonish and buffoonish. "Fear Factor," 7 p.m., NBC. This starts a seven-week competition with a $1 million prize. It begins with eight couples one married, one engaged, six dating. "Still Standing," 7 p.m., CBS. Bill and his daughter are supposed to be together at the mall. Instead, they hatch a secret plan to do things separately. "Listen Up," 7:30 p.m., CBS. Tony (Jason Alexander) wants some fight training after he backs down from a confrontation. "Everybody Loves Raymond," 8 p.m., CBS. Ray and Debra are supposed to help the dating life of her brother (Chris Elliott). "Las Vegas," 8 p.m., NBC. Ed (James Caan) has been kidnapped. He insists that the police not be notified, leaving Danny and Mike scrambling. In lighter stories, Duran Duran performs and a wedding scheme goes awry.
