Fresno State tops San Jose State, 63-56

FRESNO, Calif. — Ja'Vance Coleman scored 15 points and Mustafa Al-Sayyad added 14 points and 10 rebounds as Fresno State defeated San Jose State, 63-56, yesterday in a battle of cold-shooting teams.

Marquin Chandler had a game-high 21 points for the Spartans, who shot a season-low 32.3 percent from the field in suffering their sixth straight loss. Fresno State shot 37.9 percent (11 of 29) in both halves.

The Bulldogs are 8-3 overall, 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference. San Jose State, which plays at Hawai'i on Saturday, fell to 3-8 and 0-2.
