Woman reports being kidnapped

Police are checking into a complaint filed by a 35-year-old woman who reported being kidnapped from her apartment building's parking garage in the Kaheka Street area about 7:30 last night.

The woman told police two men, whom she did not know, forced her into their car and held her against her will until she was able to escape from the car in Manoa.

The woman was not harmed during the incident, police said. They classified the case as a kidnapping.

Man arrested for forged check

A 34-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of second-degree forgery after he allegedly tried to cash a stolen check at a Honolulu bank.

Police said the man presented the check, which was made out to himself for $2,000, to a bank teller about 4 p.m. and a computer search done by the teller indicated the check was stolen.

The bank then contacted the owner of the business account the check was drawn against and the owner verified the check number was among a series of checks that were stolen from the company,

Police were called and the man who attempted to cash the check was arrested.

Traffic violation leads to arrest

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Waipahu yesterday on suspicion of multiple charges, including car theft, after a police officer saw the man commit a traffic violation.

The officer who saw the traffic violation tried to run the car's license plate number through a mobile computer the officer had in his patrol car, but the computer search turned up no information on the license plate.

The officer then ran the vehicle identification number through the computer, learned the car had been reported stolen and arrested the driver.
