Kalaheo stops Castle in opener

David Moore scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in the second half, and Kalaheo rallied past host Castle, 59-50, last night in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division boys basketball opener for both teams.

Castle led 33-32 at halftime.

Kalaheo led 43-41 after three quarters, and outscored Castle 16-9 in the final period. The Knights scored 17 second-half points to Kalaheo's 27.

Kahua Hollinger had 13 points for the four-time defending OIA champion Mustangs.

Brad Guillermo led the Knights with 18 points.

Okesene Ale scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and the host Red Raiders beat the Surfriders in an OIA East game. Shane Hayden had 17 points — including five 3-pointers — for the Red Raiders.
