Roommate tiff ends in an arrest

A 52-year-old Honolulu man was arrested yesterday afternoon for allegedly threatening his 65-year-old roommate with a knife.

Police were called to the men's home about 3:20 p.m. where they were met by the older man who told them his roommate threatened him with the knife during an argument.

The younger man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Reported kidnap appears fictional

Police now say a 35-year-old woman who reported being kidnapped from her apartment building's parking garage in the Kaheka Street area about 7:30 Tuesday night made up much of the story.

The woman told police that two men, whom she did not know, forced her into their car and held her against her will until she was able to escape from the car in Manoa.

The woman was found naked, with her hands duct taped together, near Manoa Elementary School. But police said the woman was uncooperative and that several parts of her story did not jibe.

Investigators said they learned later that the incident may be related to the woman's gambling.

Man, 18, arrested in knife incident

An 18-year-old man was arrested in Kapolei last night after he allegedly threatened a city bus driver with a knife.

Police said the driver, 43, was heading down Kamokila Boulevard around 11:45 p.m. when he saw a group of men beating a man.

The driver stopped his bus and intervened, with passenger help.

One of the suspects threatened the driver with a knife, police said. The suspect fled but was soon caught and arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
