Service to mark Hawai'i State Day

About 25 people from Hawai'i will be on hand when Sen. Dan Inouye reads a lesson and author Kathleen Norris preaches during the the Hawai'i State Day service at Washington National Cathedral tomorrow.
Bishop Richard Chang of Hawai'i and Dean Ann McElligott of St. Andrew's are con-celebrating the Eucharist.
All next week, Hawai'i's state flag will remain centerfront in the Episcopal cathedral, the site where most religious services of a political/national importance are held.
Concert organist Jonathan Dimmock will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at Lutheran Church of Honolulu, 1730 Punahou St.
The concert, part of its ongoing Abendmusiken Concert Series, features Dimmock, who is the first and only American to hold the prestigious position of Organ Scholar of Westminster Abbey.
Regular tickets are $15. Discounted tickets are $12 for seniors and $10 for students.

The annual event, "An Epiphany Celebration of Light and the Holden Evening Prayer," will be at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Ave.
The free event, which began in 2000, includes a candle-lit evening of music, dance, readings and meditations. Participants will receive the musical score of Marty Haugen's "Holden Evening Prayer."
There will be times of silence and times of music played on a 100-year-old Armenian harp.
