Hawai'i High School Writing Awards Competition, Hawai'i Pacific University invites high school juniors and seniors to submit an essay up to five pages in length on a political, economic or social development that has had a significant impact on the history of Hawai'i and its relevance toward understanding the complexity of life in our state today. Winners will receive cash prizes and partial tuition-waiver scholarships. Essays must be submitted with a completed writing awards nomination form no later than Friday. Windward Community College and Starbucks Coffee are accepting entries for Star Poets 2005. Students in grades 3-12 may submit one or more poems, of 20 lines or less, for prizes to be awarded to students and their schools.
