The Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center has been selected to receive a $50,000 donation by the PGA Tour Sony Open in Hawai'i and Crestor, a pharmaceutical product of AstraZeneca, a major tour sponsor.

According to Danny Ferrauiola, spokesman for the PGA Tour, part of the Crestor Charity Challenge earmarks $50,000 to a local area charity.

"And this week's winner is the Wai'anae Comprehensive Health Center," said Ferrauiola, who said it's up to the Sony Open to decide which charity got the money.

Folks at the center were surprised and delighted about the donation and said it will be put to good use.

"As a nonprofit organization, the Health Center must rely in part on the generosity of others to help achieve its mission to improve the overall health status of the community through a whole person, whole family, whole community approach to care," said Richard Bettini, CEO of the Health Center.

"Crestor's gift through the Sony Open is a significant illustration of the generosity that will enable the Health Center to focus on addressing the chronic health conditions that impact so many members of our community."

Ferrauiola said that by the end of the season, AstraZeneca and its Crestor brand will have donated $3.5 million to charities across the country through the Crestor Charity Challenge program.
