Kwai Chang Caine, we hardly knew ye. Or did we? Another weekend performance run of local playwright/writer Darrell Lum's "David Carradine Not Chinese" continues tonight at Kumu Kahua Theatre.

A humorous look at racial stereotypes in American mass media in the 1970s, the play is based, in part, on Lum's childhood fascination with film and television stereotypes of Chinese characters.

"I honestly thought David Carradine was really Chinese in 'Kung Fu,' " Lum told Wayne Harada in TGIF. Thanks for ruining our appreciation of "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" reruns forever, Darrell. Showtimes are 8 p.m., today through Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, through Feb. 5. Tickets are $5 to $16. Call 536-4441.

"We can't just air color bars, although some days we've talked about it."
