Japan TV ratings up for marathon

More people in Japan watched a taped broadcast of last year's Honolulu Marathon than the year before, marathon officials said.
A 55-minute broadcast of the 2004 Honolulu Marathon by the Tokyo Broadcasting System on Monday reached 2.41 million households, while 2.25 million households watched the 2003 marathon. The highest viewership of the TBS broadcast was in Japan's Kanto area, which includes the Tokyo metropolis and six other prefectures.
The annual broadcast shows scenes along the 26.2-mile marathon route, which includes downtown, Waikiki, Diamond Head, Kahala, Hawai'i Kai and Kapi'olani Park.
Marketing and communication professionals throughout the state are invited to enter their best works of 2004 in this year's 'Ilima Awards competition, hosted by the Hawai'i chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.
The deadline for entries is Feb. 11. Cost to enter is $35 per entry for IABC members and $55 for non-members. The IABC student member rate is $10 per entry and $15 for all other students.
