Bottle deposit refunds can go to tsunami aid
Advertiser Staff
Honolulu residents can recycle bottles and cans this weekend to help tsunami victims, by bringing recyclables to special locations and allowing the nickel deposits to be donated to UNICEF for Indian Ocean tsunami relief efforts.
The effort runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Woodlawn Drive entrance to Manoa Marketplace, in the Kapi'olani Community College lot at the corner of 18th and Kilauea avenues, and at Ward Centre at the corner of Ward and Auahi Street.
For more information, go to www.bottlebillhawaii.org. The program is sponsored by the Sierra Club, Reynolds Recycling, The Honolulu Advertiser, Horizon Lines and property owners providing the drop-off sites.
