UH football team receives three commitments

By Stephen Tsai

The University of Hawai'i football team today secured verbal commitments from two receivers and a linebacker.

Antwan Mahaley, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound wideout from Carson High in Los Angeles; Marquez Jackson, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound slotback from Gainesville, Ga., and RJ Kiesel-Kauhane, a 6-1, 200-pound linebacker from Aiea High, told the UH coaches they will sign letters of intent Feb. 2, the first day of the national signing period.

They were among five players who completed recruiting visits today.

Jackson is the starting point guard on the nationally ranked East Hall basketball team. Last season, he was named to Georgia's All-State second team. As a receiver in 2003, he caught 52 passes for 848 yards and five touchdowns.

Because of the distance between Hawai'i and Georgia, Jackson said he was told to delay making a decision until Wednesday. He decided to pick Hawai'i immediately, anyway.
