Drowning victim identified

A man whose body was found Saturday floating in ocean waters off Waikiki has been identified by the city Medical Examiner's office as Wesley Henderson, 61, of British Columbia, Canada.

Purse-snatching suspect wanted

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy and are looking for a man in his early 20s in connection with a purse-snatching incident last night in Waikiki.

A 21-year-old man told police he was walking with his girlfriend about 11:10 p.m. on Hobron Lane and was carrying her purse when the man and boy approached them and the boy grabbed the purse and ran.

The male victim ran after the pair, had a water bottle thrown at him and was punched in the face when the younger of the two suspects stopped momentarily and hit him.

A police officer who was in the area on traffic enforcement duty saw the confrontation, ran after the two suspects, caught the younger one and recovered the purse with its contents intact. The older suspect got away and had not be located or identified as of this morning.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested for suspicion of second-degree robbery and was released pending further investigation.

Police stopped the two men as they were pulling away, contacted the registered owner of the car and had him identify items found in the car with the two men.

The two men were arrested for suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Two men, ages 25 and 35, were arrested early yesterday morning after being caught while allegedly stealing items from a storage container in Kaka'ako.

Police rolled up on the two men about 5 a.m. as they were loading boxes from the container into their truck. As the officers came closer, they could see that a padlock had been cut and could see bolt cutters in plain view inside the truck.

The two men were arrested for suspicion of second-degree burglary.

Car theft suspect arrested in Kaimuki

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Kaimuki yesterday for allegedly driving a stolen car.

Police said a patrol officer spotted a Toyota Camry about 1:25 a.m. driving on Wai'alae Avenue without a safety sticker. The officer checked on the license plate attached to the car and found it belonged to a different vehicle.

The officer ordered the driver to pull over, ran a check on the car's vehicle identification number and learned a 49-year-old man had reported the car stolen from him.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of unauthorized control of a motor vehicle.

Keys in ignition lead to stolen car

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Kahuku early yesterday morning as a suspect in a car theft case.

A 33-year-old woman told police she left her car unlocked, with the keys in the ignition, and found it missing when she went to use it.

The woman called police to say her car was stolen and an area patrol officer recalled seeing the boy driving the car earlier.

Police found the car, went to the boy's home and arrested him for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
