California-based general contractor Miller/Watts Constructors Inc. has been selected by the state to make $12.5 million in upgrades at Kahului Airport on Maui.

The work will include new ticket counters and airline offices. Other improvements will be completing the unfinished ticket lobby, replacing two baggage carousels, and installing a new emergency electrical power system.

Construction will begin in March and last 18 months. Airport operations will continue normally during construction.

Online travel service Expedia Inc. has launched 36 kiosks in Hawai'i that visitors can use to book vacation activities and tours.

The service, called Expedia!fun, is available at hotel and resort locations on the Big Island, Maui, O'ahu and Kaua'i. The kiosks include two dozen on Maui that Expedia picked up through its acquisition of Activity World last March.
