UH volleyball remains ranked No. 4

Advertiser Staff

Despite last week's two-match sweep of Cal State Northridge, the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team remains No. 4 in this week's USA Today/CSTV top-15 poll.

UCLA is No. 1 for the second week in a row.

Pepperdine ascended one place, to No. 2, following Brigham Young's split with UC Santa Barbara. BYU is No. 3 this week, followed by UH and Long Beach State.

"It's not that bad," UH coach Mike Wilton said of the ranking. "It's so early still. It doesn't mean much, I don't think."

The Warriors (4-1 overall, 2-0 in the Mountain Pacific Sports federation) leave tomorrow for their first road trip of the season. They play at UC Irvine Friday and Saturday.

Once again, they will be without middle blocker Delano Thomas, who is close to completing outstanding school work needed to rejoin the team. Thomas is expected to return next week.
