One of the city's most heavily used bus routes from Waipahu to the University of Hawai'i at Manoa will now have additional buses to handle the load, city officials announced today. The city's new, 75-passenger, hybrid diesel-electric buses had been running from downtown Honolulu to Waikiki in the newly created Route E. They debuted in November.
The change to Route A will take effect by Feb. 1, a news release said.
"Reassigning these buses to one of the most heavily used routes makes the most of the city's investment in them," Mayor Mufi Hannemann said in the release.
