Witness busts attempted car theftTwo men were arrested early yesterday morning in an area near Pearlridge Mall as suspects in an attempted auto theft case.
Police said a witness reported seeing the men, ages 19 and 20, breaking into a car owned by a 27-year-old woman and called police.
Police said the two men managed to get into the car and had pried off the steering column cover and "punched" the ignition, but could not get the car to start.
The two suspects drove away in their own car but were stopped about a block away, near the intersection of Koauka Loop and Koauka Street, and arrested for suspicion of attempted unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Traffic incident leads to fisticuffs
A 32-year-old man was arrested in Kane'ohe yesterday after he allegedly punched a 22-year-old man in the face and punched the hood of the victim's car following a traffic incident.
The man who reported being punched told police the other driver reached into his car and stuck him as he sat in his car.
Police arrested the older man on suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal property damage, a misdemeanor.
Family member arrested in sexual assault
A 49-year-old Kane'ohe man was arrested yesterday after a 13-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted by a family member between August and December 2004.
Police yesterday were seeking third-degree sexual assault charges against the suspect.
Man injured trying to break up fight
Police arrested a 15-year-old Kailua boy yesterday after a 56-year-old man told police he was trying to break up a fight between two other boys when the third boy approached him, interfered with his efforts to stop the fight and assaulted him.
The third boy was arrested and charged with third-degree assault. Because the boy is a minor, his name was not released.
Teen accused of threatening school worker
A 17-year-old Honolulu boy was arrested yesterday in connection with an incident on Tuesday at Kaimuki High School.
A 42-year-old security worker at the school told police he was patrolling the school grounds about 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday when he saw a boy he did not know skate-boarding on school property.
The security guard said he stopped the boy and was counseling him about skate-boarding on school grounds when another boy approached, threatened him and took up a fighting stance.
The guard walked away and reported the incident.
The boy who allegedly threatened the security guard showed up yesterday on the school grounds and was spotted by the security guard who alerted police.
The boy was arrested for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
Domestic dispute leads to arrest
A 33-year-old man was arrested in Ka'a'awa yesterday morning after he allegedly threatened to harm his 37-year-old wife and her 14-year-old son with a carpenter's hammer.
Police said the husband and wife were arguing about 7:30 a.m. in their live-in van when the alleged threat was made. Officers arrived and arrested the man for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
