Monkey Waterfall, left, a troupe that uses masks, movement and music to tell its tales, takes center stage at Paliku Theatre. Monkey, co-founded by Ben Moffat and Yukie Shiroma, will include its signature piece, "Monkey and the Waterfall," in which Shiroma is an acrobatic red monkey and Moffat performs with arm and leg stilts. Other performers include Okinawan dance master Cheryl Yoshie Nakasone, University of Hawai'i dance professor Kristi Burns, Coco Chandelier and Hester Kamin of Honolulu Theatre for Youth. Tickets are $15 general, $8 seniors 62 and older, military, students and children; group rates are available for 10 or more. Not recommended for kids younger than 8.

Get ready for a punk-funk, skalicious time with two nights of Fishbone. Best known for the chart-topper "Party at Ground Zero," the hot '80s band returns with members Angelo Moore, Norwood Fisher, Rocky George, John Steward, Tory Ruffin, D'Andre Gipson and Andre Holmes. Tickets are $15 advance and $20 at the door, for 18 and older. Doors open at 7 p.m.

STAGE: Feb. 11-27

Take a ride on the "Twentieth Century," right, as Diamond Head Theatre continues its 90th anniversary season. This comedy follows Broadway director Oscar Jaffe as his career takes a turn for the worse after his chorus girl-turned-leading lady hits the big time. Tempers flare and personalities collide when the two meet again on the Twentieth Century Limited train, and Jaffe attempts to lure his star back to Broadway. The cast includes, from left, Tom Holowach, Dennis Proulx (as Jaffe) and David C. Farmer. Tickets: $12-$42, with discounts for students, seniors 62 and older and military.

CONCERT: Feb. 12

Ho'onu'a, below, Natural Vibrations, Kapena, Ekolu, Nuff Said, Keahiwai, and Kekai Boys will perform at the Hawaiian Airlines Pro Bowl Concert, a day before the big football game featuring NFL pro-bowlers. NFL cheerleaders and mascots also will appear. Tickets are $18 lawn, $21 terrace and $25 pool; available at the Blaisdell box office and Ticketmaster outlets.

Blues lovers will be tickled pink to know that the Specter/Freund Quartet is heading this way. Jazz/blues master guitarists, from left, Dave Specter and Steve Freund, team up to promote their new release, "Is What It Is," with classic jazz and smooth R&B stylings. Tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door.

The Army Community Theatre brings the breathtaking "Miss Saigon" to local stages. The epic love story about the relationship between an American soldier and a Vietnamese woman is set against a stirring musical backdrop created by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg. Vanita Rae Smith directs. Tickets: $14-$25, with group discounts available.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth continues its 50th anniversary season with a double bill, "Eddie Would Go" and "Queen of Makaha, Rell Sunn." "Eddie" tells the life story of surfing master Eddie Aikau, from small-kid time to his legendary voyage on the Hokule'a. The world premiere of "Queen" focuses on community heroine Rell Sunn, who broke ground in the field of women's surfing. Both are written by Bryan Hiroshi Wake and directed by Harry Wong III. Recommended for those 9 and older, tickets are $16 adults, $8 youths 3-18 and seniors 60 and older.

CONCERT: Feb. 28

Grammy-award winning k.d. lang, above, showcases her sultry sounds and playful tunes while backed by her band and the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra for her Hawai'i debut. The Canadian crooner's heralded albums include the award-winning "Ingenue," "Drag" and her latest release, "Hymns of the 49th Parallel." Tickets are $45 and $55.

Tapia strumming along

'Ukulele master Bill Tapia, 97, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Paliku Theatre, Windward Community College. Other performers include Lyle Ritz, Gabe Baltazar, Noel Okimoto, Byron Yasui and Benny Chong. Tapia is about to release his latest CD, titled "Duke of Uke." ARTafterDARK returns

ARTafterDARK, aimed at attracting single and coupled — and youngish — art lovers to the Honolulu Academy of Arts on the last Friday of each month, is back. The theme for the Feb. 25 event is "NeoNite: Encounters at the Edge," focusing on the exhibit of German contemporary artist Neo Rauch (Feb. 10-April 17). There's entertainment, no-host bar, edibles. Hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $7 general, free for museum members.

Bowling for Soup cancels

The previously announced concert by the band Bowling for Soup, scheduled for Feb. 23 at Pipeline Cafe, has been canceled. For information about refunds, call Pipeline at 589-1999.
