Baseball stars at clinic

A baseball clinic featuring former Hawai'i high school stars, some of whom are now playing professionally, will be held tomorrow and Sunday at Kailua High's baseball field.

The first Kailua Baseball Clinic features numerous instructors who are playing professionally, including Brandon League (Blue Jays), Shane Komine (Athletics), Dane Sardinha (Reds), Bronson Sardinha (Yankees) and Keoni DeRenne (Diamondbacks).

Other instructors include Corey Ishigo, Kailua High's head coach, and his coaching staff, Kila Ka'aihue and Carl Fraticelli.

The clinics are for youth, ages 7 to 14 and 15 to 18, and will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days.

MISO all-stars take on pro Japanese team

A team consisting of Men's Island Soccer Organization all-stars will challenge THESPA Kusatsu, a professional Japanese soccer team, 5 p.m. Sunday at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

THESPA Kusatsu is a member of the J League, Japan's premier professional soccer league. It has been training in Hawai'i since Jan. 19, and continues its training through Feb. 1.

Trucks take spotlight at Raceway Park

The Big Rig and Truck Drags and Show, featuring trucks, vans SUVs, lowriders and more, will compete for $2,000 tomorrow at Hawai'i Raceway Park.

The race takes place on a quarter-mile track and will be followed by a monster truck display, a "Best of Show" pageant and music by Kapena.
