BUSINESS BRIEFS
Boston Pizza going downtown

Advertiser Staff

Boston's North End Pizza Bakery is looking for a spot for its first downtown store and hopes to open it in the fall.

Boston's opened its seventh store at Kapolei Marketplace in December and also is looking for a new spot near Windward Mall to replace its store on Kamehameha Highway that closed last month, according to operating partner Shawn Rubert.

The lease ran out on Boston's Kane'ohe store but "every day we have people going to the Kailua store and our St. Louis store asking when we're going to open back up in Kane'ohe," Rubert said. "We're trying."

Group books 2013 convention

The American Psychological Association, which held its annual meeting at the Hawai'i Convention Center last July, has booked another meeting at the center for summer 2013.

The event is expected to draw more than 10,000 delegates and generate about

$46 million in visitor spending and $3.8 million in state tax revenue, according to convention center officials.

"The APA rebooking indicates meeting planners and conventioneers are recognizing Hawai'i as a setting to conduct serious business in a favorable environment," said Joe Davis, SMG general manager of the Hawai'i Convention Center.
