Hawai'i's preseason All-Western Athletic Conference players include catcher Denise Dahlberg, second baseman Noelle Izumi, designated player Kate Robinson and outfielder Tracie Uchima. Rounding out Hawai'i's five honorees is 2003 All-WAC first-team pitcher Melissa Coogan, who was selected to the newly created "at-large" position.

Uchima collected her second honor as a first-team All-WAC outfielder last season, while Dahlberg picked up her third All-WAC honor, and Izumi earned a second-team nod.

Hawai'i was picked to finish third in the WAC in a preseason coaches poll. Fresno State was picked to win the seven-team conference.

Hawai'i will be challenged from the outset in 2005, with a schedule boasting 10 teams ranked in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Pre-Season Top 25, including No. 1 California and No. 2 Arizona.

Two additional Pac-10 and national powers, No. 9 Washington and No. 14 Oregon, will challenge the Rainbow Wahine immediately in Hawai'i's season-opening tournament, the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic, Feb. 3 to 6. The Rainbow Wahine face IPFW in their regular-season and tournament opener Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
