Linebacker commits to UH

Advertiser Staff Writer

Linebacker Blaze Soares of Castle High School today accepted a football scholarship form the University of Hawai'i. "It's because of family and friends," says Soares, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder.

"I wanted to show the state what I can do. I love coach Cal (linebacker's coach Cal Lee). He's a great coach."

Soares is turning down a scholarship offer from Brigham Young University.

Soares can bench press 405 pounds and run 40 yards in 4.5 seconds.
