Flash flood watch issued for Islands

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch effective today through Wednesday for Ni'ihau, Kaua'i and O'ahu. Also, it issued a flash flood watch for Lana'i, Maui, Kaho'olawe and the Big Island starting tomorrow through Wednesday.

The weather service said an incoming cold front will interact with moist air already in the islands, and showers and thunderstorms are expected to form ahead of this front. Heavy rainfall is possible, the weather service said.

The threat for heavy rainfall for all the islands will remain until Wednesday.

A flash flood watch means that flooding is possible. People in low-lying areas, along streams and other drainage sites should be prepared to take quick action if heavy rains or flooding occur.
