Jack Johnson bringing back Kokua Festival

By Derek Paiva
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Musician Jack Johnson takes his eco-friendly Kokua Festival to official annual event status with a second go-round April 13 on Maui and April 16 on O'ahu.

The impressive lineup sharing the stage with Johnson this time will include SoCal-rock pioneer Jackson Browne, L.A.-based socially conscious hip-hop crew Ozomatli, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Hawai'i musicians John Cruz and Kawika Kahiapo & Kaukahi.

Tickets for the Maui Arts & Cultural Center and Waikiki Shell shows go on sale Feb. 7 at jackjohnsonmusic.com in limited supply, and to the general public Feb. 12 at all Ticketmaster outlets. Showtimes will be announced.

Charge by phone is 877-750-4400 for the O'ahu show and 808-242-7469 for Maui. Waikiki Shell tickets are $30 and $35; Maui tickets are $35 and $40. A limited number of discount-priced tickets for children ages 3 to 10 will also be available.

All proceeds from both shows will go to Johnson's non-profit Kokua Hawai'i Foundation, which supports environmental education programs in Hawai'i schools.
