Moanalua High School assistant principal Robin Martin has been named one of three finalists for the National Assistant Principal of the Year Award by a prominent school administrators' group. A winner will be chosen on Feb. 25.
Tami Brock, a parent of two sons at Moanalua, said Martin is regarded as a hands-on assistant principal who is devoted to the school and its students.
"We're very excited that she's nominated," Brock said. "It's a well-deserved honor. I know that she's dedicated to our school and to making it a better place."
The NASSP honors a single winner each year from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity schools. A national winner is later chosen from among those candidates.
The other finalists for the national award are Daniel Matthews from Northview High School in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lois Short from Burrillville High School in Harrisville, R.I.
The NASSP last year named Campbell High School principal Gail Awakuni its principal of the year. Awakuni was the first principal from Hawai'i to earn the honor.
