My heart is heavy today with the absolute shock and sadness that this news brings. Dan, he is one that can not possibly be forgotten. His joy in all that he did, his pride for his country and the way he could serve it. His love for all his family, (the pride he took in all his children!), and his friends, these are things I will always remember. Everyone who knew Dan, their lives are forever changed by knowing him, remembering him. He brought such life to all! What a blast we've had together. Thank you for the wonderful memories, Dan. My whole family loved you! How could they not! You are in my heart forever!

To those that serve our country and to those that have lost love ones. I want to thank you personally from within for the sacrifices that you all have made. Your bravery and dedication to what our flag represents shall not and will not go unnoticed and/or invain. To all of us here at home, as we celebrate Independence Day this weekend, let's us remember that it's not about picnics, fireworks, etc. It's about freedom and those that have gave all they have to give to insure we endure it forever and for those that want it still, mahalo.

As a former U.S. Marine and a Vietnam veteran, each lost of an American soldier in action is a personal one. No matter what one's political views may be, our men and women in uniform who stand in harm's way do so for all of us. The responsibility of being leader of the free world can be an awesome burden which time and again is borne on the shoulders of our military. My sincerest condolences to the ohana of these fallen warriors who have laid the ultimate sacrifice "upon the alter of freedom."

My family and I will miss Dan Healy and the other Navy Seals. The world is a litle more empty now. Dan and the other Seals were top notch people. They liked to party and have fun, but they certainly knew what hard work is and how important dedication to mission completeion is. Dan was in Afghanistan doing what he knew to be the right thing for him as well as his country. Dan and men and women like him are special people. We will miss him, but we will never forget him or the sacriice he made fighting for our free way of life.

I have always had an appreciation for what these guys do to protect our freedoms. It really hit home when I attended a March benefit for the United Warrior Survivor Foundation (UWSF). This group is dedicated to helping the wives of our fallen special forces sailors, soldiers, airmen and marines.

I can only imagine the burden they must be feeling now but thank God they are there to help the surviving spouses and thank God that we have such patriots that continue to go in harms way to protect our way of life.

With profound respect and admiration for these, our most skilled warriors, and with deepest sympathy to their familes and their teammates. I'm reminded words of Lincoln inscribed upon the statue of Lady Columbia at Punchbowl: "The Solemn Pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." The Teams go on, and with them the memory of these, our finest.

The boots are placed in single file line
Moments of silence during roll call time.
A call for help, the choppers went flying
no cause for delay, their buddies were dying.
These men are heros, some larger then life.
Some left mothers and children, others a wife.
Remember these men, and their families this day,For every SEAL knows
The only easy day was yesterday.

Living in Hawaii, the feeling of ohana is extended to those serving in the armed forces who sacrifice their lives to protect our freedoms. That's why a loss like this affects us all, and we weep and feel sorrow for the families that lost their loved ones. I hope that comfort will soon find all those who grieve, and let it be known that their service, loyalty, and commitment to this country will never be forgotten. God bless their souls, and God Bless America.
