Buddhist center offers course

The Buddhist Study Center is holding its summer session beginning July 25.

The Rev. Marvin Harada will lead, with the theme, "Learning the Dharma Through the Life and Thought of Great Buddhists."

The session is July 25-29 and Aug. 1-5; weeknight, 2›-hour sessions start at 7 p.m. Classes to be held at the center, 1436 University Ave.

Cost is $50 to register for the entire session, which includes handouts and a dinner on the final night, or $5 per class.

Temple to hold outdoor services

Temple Emanu-El is planning two outdoor summer services at 6 p.m. Friday and again on Aug. 24.

The first Summer Shabbat Service in the Park will be held at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.

If it rains, the service will be held at the beach pavilion. The second will be at Kailua Beach Park (across from Buzz's Steak House).

No service will be held at the temple those evenings.
