Thankful for great men that are willing to lay down their life for others. These fine men will never be forgotten by this American family. It takes a lot of bravery and guts to be a seal. May God give them a just award.

My condolences go out to Shane's family and friends. I met Shane and some of his brother Navy Seals about 4 years ago during an Army school, they were the most kind, respectful and alive men I have ever met in my military service. I can not even express the respect I have for the service you provide to and for this country. YOU ARE ALL HEROS. It was just recently I thought I would check to see how those great guys were doing, and discovered that Shane had given the greatest sacrifice. My heart goes out to his family and friends and his Navy Seal brothers. He was a great guy with such determination and dedication to the Navy Seals. God Bless you and your family.

It is a sad event when one of the most special groups of Sailors have to go that way. Any way is not well received but for so many at one time that is devitating blow the Seal Community. As a former supporter of some of their training and brushing aqaintencies in and out of the service I can only give my deepest sympathy.

God Bless those who have fallen before us and God bless these brave men of SDVT-1. Having worked with members of this team in the past, I can honestly say that in my 22 years of active Navy service, I have never met a more dedicated, hard working, patriotic bunch of heroes. My condolences to those families who have lost a loved one from this outstanding team but be assured it is not in vain. Rest in peace brothers.

Shane Patton - a true hero, an inspirational being, an honest, hard working, dedicated, loyal, hilarious, genuine, lovable, kind, truly impressive guy. I miss him so much that I can hardly stand it - but I know he's in a better place now. He's our strength when we need him to be, he's our voice of reason when we struggle and he's our silent source of courage when we call on him.
Shane - you touched my life in a way that no other has and for that - I thank you. God Bless you and your family.

I too have a response to Mr. Olsen. Sir, how dare you think for one minute this mission was a waste. Until you are one of the many who are awaiting to hear if they have found your loved one who is fighting and is lost or presumed dead you should not concern yourself with the politics of the situation but drop to your knees and pray for their safty. These men do things you could not even begin to fathum. Today the first of the many memorial services for the SEALs put aside your negitive thoughts and pray for their loved ones. My deepest sympathies and prayers.

I would just like to give my thanks to all those SEALS that gave their lives doing what do. Being stationed in Pearl Harbor Hawaii I meet and spoke with numerous Navy SEALS. These men are truly amazing individuals. Everything they do to become a SEAL and then all they do after BUD/S. Words can never express my heart felt lose that I feel for them and their families. I also want to express my condolences to all those member of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps that have lost their lives in the line of Duty. People take for granted the freedoms that we have in this county. I know each day that men like the Navy SEALS that passed in combat and the ones still fighting and training give each day. Long hours away from their families. To all the families if you need anything Ask

I would just like to say a heartfelt "thanks" to the ones who are serving in the American military to keep the peace worldwide. I know I am from Canada, but my heart goes out to the friends and families of those who have fallen in the line of duty. I have relatives who have been involved in wars, and know the toll it takes. I wish Canada's military stood as strongly for world peace. To the SEAL community, which has been rocked in the last week, I am so sorry for your loss. Those men were heroes...larger than life. They will be remembered forever. I think of all the civilians who walk around and don't even think of the sacrifice that others make to enjoy the freedom that we enjoy. I hope the world takes note and takes a moment to remember and honor those who guard our freedom.

Every day, another american soldier has lost his/her life for the "cause of freedom" across the world. Cause of freedom has been the political catch phrase of our times and encompases the compassion, dedication, service to humanity and just doin the right thing that the american military has been doing for years and that we at home take for granted while in our cozy little homes and away from the harsh realities of the politics of the world. Words can not express the sudden (and unfair) lost of lives that occur everyday. The only hope is the concept of the afterlife where all who have lives may be joined together in the heavens. Mahalo to all people who help others whether in military or civilian capacities. You will not be forgotten.

In response to Mr. Olsen,
I am not too sure if the actual cause of the death is the importance, but the deaths themselves. So ease up on the politics. And rest assured that the deaths of these men was not a waste. The reasons and values that htese men and our country have may not be your own but by no means shall you trivilaize the issues at hand.

I am troubled by the fact that the only way that SEAL units can fully utilize their proficiencies is in actual combat operations. Thus there is a built in bias for military personnel to find conflict where none may actually exist.
There is no evidence that whoever shot down the plane were terrorists. They are probably the same fighters that America saluted when they were shooting down Russian planes when that country occupied Afghanistan.
These fighters have demonstated no ambition other than to defend their homeland from foreign occupation--whether Russian or American.
There were no Afghanis in the planes on 9/11.
I mourn the deaths of the SEALS especially as their sacrifices may not have been in defense of our country. In other words, what a waste.

I was lucky enough to get to know these REAL American Heroes. The Honolulu Police Department's S.W.A.T. Team trained with them on several occasions and learned a thing or two from them about professionalism, skill, and living life as exemplary individuals. Not only have Dan, Marcus, James, and the others, touched my life, but have provided this country with all of the freedoms it enjoys. I will never forget them. These men were cut from the same cloth as legends. I witnessed it first hand.
