Icelandic band begins tour

Mood rockers Sigur Rós, hailing from Reykjavik, Iceland, will kick off their U.S. tour with an Aug. 9 concert at the Hawai'i Theatre. Tickets, $27.50, go on sale at 9 a.m. today at the Hawai'i Theatre box office, at www.hawaiitheatre.com or 528-0506.

The band's 2002 album "( )" — eight tracks of space-agey, multi-instrumental dream rock dusted with lyrics from a completely made-up language — was one of the year's best. Sigur Rós completed work on its still-untitled fourth album last month, for release this fall.



Urban Nomad finds new home

True to its name, Urban Nomad has moved again.The funky vintage boutique is now at 1023 Smith St., between Hotel and King streets, where owner Frieda Hulse houses her eclectic collection of clothing, handbags, shoes and jewelry from the '30s to the '80s. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.
