K-1 martial arts event tickets on sale

Ticket sales begin today for the K-1 World Grand Prix martial arts event at Aloha Stadium.

The event is scheduled for July 29, and will be the first martial arts card staged at the stadium. Officials from K-1 which is one of Japan's top martial arts organizations are hoping to draw 20,000 fans.
B.J. Penn, top, will face Renzo Gracie in one of three main events of the K-1 World Grand Prix at Aloha Stadium.
Hilo's B.J. Penn will take on Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Renzo Gracie in one of three Super Fight main events.
Former sumo grand champion Akebono will take on Korea's Hong-Man Choi in another Super Fight. Choi is listed at 7 feet 2 and 353 pounds.
Japanese star Musashi will face Rickard Nordstrand of Sweden in the other Super Fight.
There also will be an eight-man heavyweight kickboxing tournament. Hawai'i fighters Wesley "Cabbage" Correira and Scott Junk are scheduled to participate. Other fighters in the tournament are Eric "Butterbean" Esch, Gary Goodridge, Hiromi Amada, Carter Williams, Marcus Royster and Yusuke Fujimoto.
Tickets are $300 for ringside rows 1 to 7, $200 for ringside rows 8 to 11, $75 for ringside rows 12 to 19, $65 for riser seats (orange section) and $35 for general admission (blue section).
Tickets are available at Aloha Stadium box office, Stan Sheriff Center, UH-Manoa Campus Center, Sera's Surf and Shore (Ala Moana), Razor Concepts (Pearlridge), and Fighters Corner.
