Hawai'i Sports Car Race & Track Day on Sunday

Indy-type cars racing at speeds of up to 130 mph will be featured Sunday at Hawai'i Raceway Park as part of Hawai'i's Sports Car Race & Track Day.

The event, which is themed "Keep the Kids on Track," also will have sports cars and sedans racing on the course. Gates open at 9 a.m. for racing until 4 p.m.

The event encourages safe driving, and proper training to drive on the track. The event is a benefit for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Many of the Indy-type cars and race cars will be displayed, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Fort Street Mall, with the drivers in attendance.

Tickets are available at Wai'alae Subaru or at the gate. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 13 to 17 and free for 12-under. For details, call 488-1782 or 524-0330 ext. 2.
