SAFETY COURSE

Kapi'olani Community College is offering classes to earn a certificate of competence in safety, injury prevention and conditioning. The session is designed to prepare coaches to recognize, prevent, and care for basic athletic injuries. Classes are in two-day sessions, and are running twice this summer, July 16 and 17 and August 6 and 7. To earn the certificate of competence, students must dedicate 13.5 hours to the course, and pass all skills proficiencies related to the entire course and pass a written exam. Instructors also will offer the exam for the American Red Cross Certification in Sport Safety Training. The fee for each session is $100. JUDO CAMP

Hawai'i Tokai International College is launching its International Summer Judo Camp from July 25 to 31 at the Tokai University Pacific Center. The program strengthens judo skills, deepens intercultural understanding and encourages the development of a life philosophy and a global perspective. Registration is $30 for the basic clinic and lectures, and $70 or more for a dorming option. The deadline is July 15.
