TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Battlestar Galactica," 7, 8 p.m., NBC. Next Friday, this terrific show starts its second season on cable's Sci-Fi Channel. Tonight NBC offers a quick chance to catch up on the final episodes of the first season; it reruns one episode at 7 p.m. and the sensational, two-hour cliffhanger at 8. First a recap: The Cylons control most of the galaxy. A rag-tag fleet of humans is on the run under the tenuous military-civilian rule of Commander William Adama and President Laura Roslin. The Cylons, devious and robotic, can create humanlike creatures to go undercover. That includes two Sharons — one on board, the other stranded on a Cylon-controlled planet. Another Cylon — the gorgeous No. 6 — has infiltrated the mind of Dr. Gaius Baltar, the evil scientist who is vice president. Heroes include Capt. Lee "Apollo" Adama (the commander's son) and Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. Huge events are coming up for Starbuck, including an ill-advised one-night stand, a dangerous mission and a fierce fight. There's much more, including Roslin's vision of a bountiful planet. Then comes the cliffhanger. This is first-rate fantasy.

BEST BETS

"The Emperor's New Groove" (2000), 7 p.m., ABC. David Spade stars in this cartoon comedy from Disney. He plays a cocky young emperor who won't be stopped by anything — including being transformed into a llama.

"Catscratch" debut, 5-7 p.m., Nickelodeon. After inheriting a fortune, three cats spend their time and money foolishly in this cartoon. Here are two episodes, four stories and quite a few laughs.

"Cold Case," 8 p.m., CBS. This goes back to a 1943 case in which a female factory worker was killed.

"Entrapment" (1999), 7 p.m., TNT. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones star in a slick, smart movie about a super thief and the insurance detective who may or may not want to catch him.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. Lindsay Lohan hosts. The musical guest is Coldplay.
