Church to host special meeting

"Economic leverage" and a resolution on companies that perpetuate violence and injustice in Israel and Palestine, adopted by the United Church of Christ general synod in Atlanta last week, will be the topic of a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Church of the Crossroads' Ross-Davis building (next to the banyan tree and parking lot).
The church was one of several that sponsored resolutions on these issues.

TEMPLE TO HOLD INTERFAITH EVENT
An interfaith symposium, "Finding Spiritual Sovereignty: Moving From Exclusion to Inclusion in My Faith," will be held 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 5, at the Honpa Hongwanji Betsuin Buddhist Temple.
Members from diverse religions will present brief talks on how scriptural passages and spiritual practices in their faith traditions can be understood by others, followed by breakout sessions to discuss the ideas presented. Follow-up activities may include curriculum development and interactive media presentations.
Cost: $20 ($25 at the door, includes box lunch and snacks).

AUTHOR ZIGLAR SLATED TO SPEAK
Zig Ziglar will discuss "Making Life Better Than Good" at 7 a.m. July 27-28 at De Russy Hall, Hale Koa Hotel.
The discussion by Ziglar, an author and motivational speaker, is part of Straight Talk, sponsored by Hawaiian Islands Ministries.
