A man who was inadvertently released from the O'ahu Community Correctional Center Thursday was captured last night by state sheriffs.
Pomale Falaniko was scheduled to be transferred from OCCC to the state hospital in Kane'ohe, but was released by prison officials Thursday afternoon, said Mike Gaede, Department of Public Safety spokesman. He said an investigation is under way to find out how Falaniko was allowed to walk away from the Kalihi facility.
Falaniko was seen in Palolo Thursday night and again last night. At about 9:20 p.m., Falaniko was captured and returned to OCCC, Gaede said.
