  • Pearlridge Center has donated $45,000 to the Hawaiian Railway Society. This is the largest amount ever donated to the society. It will be used to finish the existing maintenance facility and to rebuild two of the five passenger cars now in use.

  • The Harry & Jeannette Weinberg Foundation has donated $10,000 to Hina Mauka's Teen CARE program. The money will support alcohol- and drug-free outings for adolescents in the program.

  • The Hawai'i Hotel & Lodging Association has granted $5,000 to Hina Mauka for its substance abuse treatment program for the homeless at the Institute for Human Services.

  • The Samuel N. and Mary Castle Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to Castle Medical Center to support its $15.5 million construction project that will provide additional space for 30 private rooms.

  • The Council of Korean Christian Churches in Hawai'i held a fundraiser that netted $19,035 for victims of the Southeast Asian tsunami.
