  • ANNE LI MAPES, decade-long president of Belt Collins Hawaii Ltd., the Honolulu-based planning, engineering, landscape architecture and environmental consulting firm, has been promoted to chairman and chief executive officer. Replacing her as president will be former firm vice president and director of landscape architecture, MICHAEL B. TERRY, a veteran of projects throughout Hawai'i, the Pacific islands and Asia. The firm, which maintains offices in Hawai'i; Hong Kong; Singapore; Bangkok, Thailand; Guam; and Seattle, has completed more than 12,000 projects in 70 countries worldwide.

  • JEFF BARRUS, a former editor-in-chief of Hawaii Business magazine and managing editor of Utah Business magazine has been hired as editorial director and senior account executive by public relations agency, The Limtiaco Co. His editorial direction will include oversight of press releases, brochures, speeches, annual reports, newsletters and press kits for company clients as diverse as the state Department of Transportation, city Department of Environmental Service, Hawai'i Convention Center and various tourism industry entities. Barrus was recently a travel writer and university lecturer in Indonesia.

  • ROSALYNN "ROZ" COOPER, a member of the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu, has been inducted as overall governor of Rotary District 5000, which includes the 41 clubs, and 2,200 members, on four Hawai'i islands. She is a logistics management specialist and information management officer for the deputy chief-of-staff for logistics, U.S. Army Headquarters, Pacific. She has declared the elimination of poverty, illiteracy and hunger, and the preservation of clean water and health as immediate goals while in office, as well as existing programs of youth scholarships, mentoring and international exchange.

  • Diane Peters-Nguyen, vice president, corporate and public affairs of The Limtiaco Company, has been elected new president of the board of directors of the HAWAII SOCIETY OF CORPORATE PLANNERS. Other officers include president-elect, Tomma Irvine, of FileMinders; treasurer, Diane Shigeta, of A&B Properties Inc.; co-treasurer, John Ellis, of LPL Financial Services; and secretary, Gail Fujita, of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

  • FRANKLIN CLAY, account coordinator with public-relations agency McNeil Wilson Communications Inc., has been promoted to assistant account executive in the company's Travel and Tourism Division. With the company since 2004, his clients include Marriott Resorts of Hawai'i, Marriott Vacation Club International, Sea Life Park by Dolphin Discovery, Ala Moana Hotel and King's Village shopping center.

    Two local financial institutions have announced management appointments at new branches:

  • TIMOTHY ASHCRAFT, who joined Hawai'i Community Federal Credit Union in 1997 as loan officer, has been named manager of the group's new Kaloko, North Kona, branch. When it opens in early 2006, the 25,000-square-foot facility will also serve as headquarters for the 68-year-old Big Island institution, as well as more than double service capacity of the current Kailua branch, which served North and South Kohala. During construction of the facility in the Kaloko Business Park, Ashcraft will oversee staffing requirements, recruiting and training plan development. Since September 1998, Ashcraft has been branch manager of the institution's Kohala branch. HCFCU also maintains branches in Kailua, Kona; Kealakekua and Pa'auhau; and student credit unions at Konawaena and Kealakehe high schools.

  • Two managers have been named for new Territorial Savings Bank branches in Kapolei and Kahala: THOMAS SLOVER has been named branch manager at Territorial Savings Bank's new Kapolei branch, located in Ace Center of Kapolei, 480 Kamokila Blvd., next to Ace Hardware. He will be responsible for branch operations, as well as residential mortgage production. Slover is a former employee of American Savings Bank, including positions as branch operations department manager and manager of American Savings branches in Nanakuli and Waipahu.

    CYRUS K. ROBINSON, an over 16-year banking industry veteran, with a focus on credit lending and branch operations, has been named manager of Territorial's new Kahala branch. He has spent 13 years at the bank's Kaimuki branch. The new branch is in the Kahala Atrium building at 4819 Kilauea Ave.

    Another financial institution appointment:

  • HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union, which serves 96,000 members through nine branches on O'ahu and Maui, has named 15-year mortgage veteran TOM OHASHI as director of its residential Mortgage Center. Ohashi is a past employee of Honolulu Mortgage, First Hawaiian Bank, and most recently, RBC Mortgage Co., and is a past president of Hawaii Mortgage Bankers Association.

  • CHARLES E. WILLSON , a former independent planning consultant in Hawai'i and Beijing, has joined Helber Hastert & Fee, Planners Inc., as a senior planner, including responsibilities for environmental assessments and environmental impact statements. His professional planning and consulting experience, in both public and private sectors, have included environmental compliance documentation, land use and infrastructure planning, land-use entitlements, demographic and development forecasting and due diligence/feasibility analysis for development projects. He was formerly a planning/analyst with ECM Inc.

  • JANESSA T. BONIFACIO will assume increased responsibility over planning and performance of financial and operational audits and reviews of Alexander and Baldwin Inc. operations with a her recent promotion from internal auditor, to senior internal auditor. Bonifacio, who began her career with A&B in 2002, is recognized for having played a major role in ensuring A&B's initial compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, federal legislation passed in 2002 in the aftermath of corporate scandals. Bonifacio is a former senior auditor at Ernst & Young.

    KARALYNN K. UCHIMURA has joined A&B as internal auditor, with responsibility of evaluation and analysis of company financial reports, corporate policies and operations. The certified public accountant is a former assistant controller at JTB Hawaii Inc., and a senior auditor at Deloitte & Touche.

  • Responsibility for Honolulu International Airport's new Explosive Detection System will be among DEAN KAWAKAMI's responsibilities in his new job as project manager/construction manager for Kajioka Yamachi Architects Inc. The 34-year architectural and construction veteran's current projects will also include Kona Community Hospital's Radiation Therapy Unit. His past projects, in the city, state and federal sectors, in education, transportation and housing spheres, also included work on Honolulu airport's new Interisland Terminal Building.
