Chun top medalist in women's Public Links

Kamehameha School's graduate Mari Chun shot a 2-under-par 69 and tied for the top spot in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links in Kansas City, Mo.

Chun's two-round total of 136 tied her with Angela Park of Torrance, Calif., for medalist honors.

The top 64 golfers from a field of more than 140 advance to match play.

Chun, 17, who will attend Stanford in the fall, will face Patty Chawalimetha of Bellflower, Calif., in tomorrow's match-play event.

Mariko Shimozaki, who shot 71-76—147 and finished in a tie for 25th, also advanced.

Three others — Kelly Nakashima, Cyd Okino, and Jandee Kim — did not advance.

Nakashima shot 80-75—155 and finished tied for 78th. Okino shot 75-82—157 and tied for 93rd.

Kim shot 89-84—173 and tied for 140.
