Tired of changing diapers? Summer school getting you down? Hating this rental market? Do what thousands of other women do — grab a board and hit the surf.

And if you don't think surfing is for you, let "Sister Surfer: A Woman's Guide to Surfing with Bliss and Courage" (Lyons Press, $19.95) by longboarder Mary Osborne (of MTV's "Surf Girls" fame) and youth facilitator Kia Afcari, change your mind. The book, out this month, is packed with real-life insider advice about everything from choosing a board to improving your balance — all geared to inspire and empower the surfista in all of us. GET REAL ... OR NOT

USE CAUTION WITH FLORALS

Wonder if using real flowers on your wedding cake is safe? It should be, if you heed this advice from TheKnot.com:

  • Check with a florist to be sure the flowers and greenery you want aren't dangerous.

  • Make sure the florist washes every bloom that's intended for your cake.

  • Don't use flowers or greenery that have been sprayed with pesticides.

If you're still uneasy about using fresh flowers on your cake, place them between the tiers. Or, make a garland that goes around the base of the cake, instead.

    FINAL WORD
