Investigators seeking eyewitnesses to fires

Police need the public's help in finding people who may have started brushfires from mid-June to July 11 at Kalaeloa near Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park and along the Leeward Coast.
There have been 569 brushfires this year, according to Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Kenison Tejada, and fire officials believe that about 80 percent were deliberately set.
On Maui, Deputy Fire Chief Neal Bal urged people to report suspicious activity to the police.
Campbell Estate is offering a $1,000 reward to the first person to call radio station KSSK with information leading to the arrest of those involved in the July 11 brushfires on O'ahu.
Honolulu police have arrested one person this year for starting a brushfire. No arrests were made in 2004. Prosecutors need either eyewitnesses or police officers who saw an individual light the fire.
