Advertiser Staff

A 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the robbery of a 29-year-old woman in Waikiki on May 7.

The victim told police she was walking through a condominium parking lot about 9:40 p.m. when a stranger approached her and ripped her purse away.

An ongoing investigation led to the suspect being identified and members of the Waikiki crime reduction unit arrested him yesterday for suspicion of second-degree robbery.

Man who held former girlfriends against their will arrested

A 39-year-old He'eia man was arrested yesterday for allegedly holding his current and former girlfriends against their will beginning about 10 p.m. Wednesday and threatening to harm them.

Police said the two women, ages 36 and 42, are friends and that the suspect was together with them at the Makiki area apartment Wednesday night.

After the suspect threatened the two women and refused to let them go, one of them went into a bedroom on the pretense of going to sleep and managed to call 911, police said.

When officers arrived and knocked on the door of the apartment on Wilder Avenue, the woman who called ran out of the apartment and the suspect gave himself up a few minutes later.

He was arrested for suspicion of two counts each of kidnapping, terroristic threatening and abuse of a family or household member.
