Body discovered in burning car

Police have opened a homicide investigation after a body was discovered about 2 a.m. yesterday in a burning car at what is known as "Army Beach" in Mokule'ia.

According to police, the gender of the dead person has not yet been determined.

The body was found in a Honda Civic at the beach near Dillingham Airfield.


BOYFRIEND SUSPECT IN THREAT CASE

Police arrested a 21-year-old Nu'uanu man at about 9:30 Wednesday night after he allegedly refused to let his girlfriend, 21, out of his car and threatened repeatedly to kill her.

Police were able to contact the man by cellular phone and persuaded him to turn himself in. He was arrested for suspicion of kidnapping and first-degree terroristic threatening.


MAN ARRESTED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police arrested a 23-year-old man at a Waikiki hotel Wednesday after a 22-year-old woman told them she awoke about 7:30 a.m. to find him sexually assaulting her.

The woman said she had been drinking with the man at his hotel room, lost consciousness and woke up the following morning while he was assaulting her.

Police said narcotics were recovered during a search of the hotel room.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of first-degree sexual assault and third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.
